Sunrise host Nat Barr found herself in the centre of a tense exchange this morning between Housing Minister Clare ONeil and Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume.
Ms ONeil had taken aim at the Coalitions unpopular and now scrapped policy to force public service workers back into the office and suggested it contributed to its slide in the polls.
Ms Hume fired back that Labor had spent million of dollars slinging mud and repeatedly interjected as Ms ONeil spoke about the plan to point out that it was no longer the Coalitions policy.
Working from home has become integral to many families in my community, Ms ONeil said, before she was interrupted.
Jane, if you dont mind ... I talked to families in my community and theyre theyre saying to me this is the only way that our family can actually get through the week.
Im so sorry, Jane ... Ive been polite, and now Id like you to be polite to me .. Its a broader issue for the Coalition.
Ms Hume replied again that its not our policy.
Jane this is a democracy and Im a politician trying to have my say. I listened to you politely ... can you silence the microphone please?
Ms ONeil asked Barr to switch off Shadow Finance Minister Jane Humes microphone
Barr responded that shed love to [but] I think you got your point across.
Ms ONeil then wedged in mentions about Labors moves to improve the gender pay gap and lower childcare fees.
More to follow.
