An Argentine actress has taken to social media to promote awareness for breast cancer after revealing she underwent surgery to remove tumors.
Soledad Fandiño broke the shocking news via Instagram on Monday and indicated that she sought medical care after she noticed that was not feeling well.
I recently went through surgery, a stage in my life that began when my intuition convinced me that something was not right, the 42-year-old former model said. Sometimes our body speaks to us in subtle ways and it is important to listen to it.
The diagnosis of breast cancer is not easy and much less the words we hear from others during this process. Sometimes without meaning to, what they say can hurt, generate fear or uncertainty, Fandiño added.

Fandiños public admission came one day before a new American Cancer Society report was published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians.
The study showed that the breast cancer death rate decreased in the United States around 44 percent between 1989 and 2022, which is about 517,900 fewer breast cancer deaths during that period.
However, the report found that breast cancer incidences increased by 1 percent each year from 2012 to 2021.
There was a steep increase in women who were younger than 50 years, (1.4 percent annually) in comparison with those who were 50 years and older (0.7 percent).
