The New York congresswoman posted a picture on Sunday of a massive crowd in Puerto Rico, comparing the size to presidential rallies.

Eyes on Puerto Rico: Tonight Puerto Ricans amassed the second largest political rally this ENTIRE cycle - behind only Harris 75k-person Ellipse speech, she said.

Over 50,000 Boricuas rallying for the anti-Trump, anti-corruption Alianza movement & @juandalmauPR. Political earthquake.

Readers were quick to slap a community note on the post clarifying that the audience was not attending a presidential rally, but were there for a festival, reported Fox News.

The depicted rally is the Festival de la Esperanza, hosted by the anti-colonial parties of Movimiento Victoria Ciudadana (MVC) and Partido Independentista Puertorriqueño (PIP) ahead of the next colonial elections, the note read. It had nothing to do with any of the USs main parties.

Critics slammed AOC for the post, claiming she had tried to warp the image to push her personal agenda.

This event had nothing to do with Trump or Kamala, youre just using the island for your own political goals in typical Washington colonial fashion, one person said.

The congresswoman wrote back: I did not mention Kamala and stated this is about anti-corruption Alianza. To build coalition, it is relevant to note that PNP’s Jenniffer Gonzalez ran Latinos for Trump & campaigns on scare tactics about Dalmau cutting Soc Security when she’s empowered cuts via membership w/GOP.

Readers then added a community note to her reply stating she did mention Harris in her original tweet.

Puerto Rican voters became a hot button issue for the presidential candidates after comedian Tony Hinchcliffes joked at Trumps Madison Square Garden rally that the U.S. territory is a floating island of garbage.

His joke cost Trump the endorsement of popular Puerto Rican artist Nicky Jam and earned Harris the support of superstar Bad Bunny, also from Puerto Rico.

Puerto Ricans living on the island dont get to vote in the presidential election but those living in the mainland United States can cast their ballot – and many live in a crucial battleground state that could decide the election.

About 580,000 Latinos in Pennsylvania can vote this cycle and most of them are Puerto Rican, according to UCLAs Latino Policy and Politics Institute.

Harris devoted much of her final full day on the campaign trail to reaching Latino voters in Pennsylvania.

In Reading, she stopped at a Puerto Rican restaurant called Old San Juan Cafe and ordered food to go with Gov. Josh Shapiro and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez.
