Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed he is shredding for the wedding ahead of his upcoming marriage to fiancé Jodie Haydon.

Speaking on Brisbane radio station B105 on Thursday, the 61-year-old shared his health and fitness regimen with presenters Stav, Abby and Matty.

As the conversation moved on to grocery prices, Matty Acton asked the prime minister about his eating habits and how he stays fit in the top job.

The host asked if he was a fan of spag bol and chicken nuggets, but Mr Albanese revealed his diet is mostly much healthier than that.

Ive got to say, Im mainly on a fish diet at the moment, he said.

Having proposed to Ms Haydon on Valentines Day last February, Acton asked Mr Albanese was shredding for the wedding.

Im trying to do the right thing, he replied. I lost quite a few kilos when I became Labor leader, and you might recall my car accident a couple of years ago, that was a bit of a wake up call to get fit.

Mr Albanese, whose wedding will be held after the federal election expected next May, admitted it was hard finding time to exercise with his busy schedule.

Its all about what you eat, but also getting a little bit of exercise, he said.

And getting exercise in this job is hard.

He laughed at the notion of using the weight loss drug Ozempic, which has made headlines for its use among celebrities such as Sharon Osbourne.

Im not sure about some of the other [side] effects of those things, so Id rather go the natural route, he said.

The PM also revealed that, like many Aussies, he has special occasion foods.

My go-to used to be pasta. I would have it four times a week. Now its just special occasions, so I really enjoy it a lot more when I have it, he revealed.

Host Stav Davidson joked that this made Mr Albanese the man of the people!

The PM said it can be tough avoiding bread and dessert at catered dinners and functions  and that it can be easy to overeat.

Mr Albanese previously revealed the secrets to his 15kg weight loss involved watching his diet, his alcohol consumption, exercise and sleep.

He largely cut out carbohydrates and unhealthy snacks and had eggs instead of cereal for breakfast, salad for lunch and meat and two veg for dinner.

He cut out alcohol for three months and then only drank on the weekend.

Mr Albanese had a treadmill installed in his office, went on long walks with his dog, played tennis twice a week and also cycled.

He said he was sleeping better and was mentally fitter due to his 15kg weight loss.
