The crew noticed an indicator light warning of a problem with the cargo bay door and immediately turned back to LAX.
However, when the plane was examined, maintenance workers found no problem with the door and the light malfunctioned.
Flight 73 will take off at 1pm on Thursday with the same aircraft.
